VAAZHAKKA CURRY



This is a quickie - made with raw bananas. It is prepared during feasts as well as during religious rites. 

Ingredients
Raw bananas (small variety) – 4 peeled and diced
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Salt to taste
Grated coconut – 2 tbsp
Green chilli – 1 (crushed)
Oil – 2 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Red chilli pieces – 2
Curry leaves – 7

Method
Peel and dice the raw bananas and soak them in water to which a tbsp of buttermilk has been added.
Wash well after 10 minutes.
Heat water in a pan and add the washed bananas.
Add turmeric powder and salt and boil till the bananas are cooked.
Transfer to a colander and drain off the water.
After 10 minutes, heat 2 tsps of oil in a kadhai and add mustard seeds, urad dal, red chilli pieces and curry leaves.
Add the boiled bananas and stir gently.
Add the grated coconut and crushed green chilli and mix well.
